Reasoning and emotions work together. It's necessary to be logical and not act on impulse, but our emotions are there as a guide. If you act disregarding your emotions, you can end up doing things without passion, and not giving them energy you would if you truly cared.

To be honest I think that is hard question because I think that it depends on the situations that you are facing.

For example when you are in a jury, your not suppose to think on emotions but by facts and evidence.

When it comes to someones health and it seems like they aren't getting any better, do u pull the plug or let them still suffer, if you thought w/ ur emotions you would probably say "no i dont want them to die", but if you thought with ur brain you would know it was for the best.

I'm not sayn that you should block ur emotions, cause sometimes situations are based on how u feel emotionally. Sorry if I have confused u in any way, like I said it depends on the situation that ur confronting.

hope this answers ur question :o)

Emotions impair the thinking process and drive us into direct actions without the benefit of a prior thought to the consequences. To think with emotion means to put away our logic faculty into cold storage. However, this need not always be either less efficient or more harmful..... it can result in achievements of what we may logically think to be impossible. Everyone appreciates the warmth of emotional thoughts and actions and only grudgingly accepts the cold logical thought and action. It may often be better to win over people through emotion than defeat them through logic.

Sort of, because morality is ultimately based on emotion, not logic. So if you are going to have "good" ideas you have to do your thinking in a "good" emotional state.

Otherwise, the question seems like nonsense, because emotions only influence thought - they aren't thoughts in themselves.

Yes, to a certain extent.
Emotions are ur guide. They tell u what will bring u pleasure and what will bring pain. Like Anthony Robbins says, all decisions are basically to maximize the pleasure while minimizing pain. Emotions put u in touch with ur real value system, irrespective of what others say to you. In Stephen covey's words, they tell you which wall your ladder should be leaning against.
But once that decision is over, to actually climb that ladder to success, u need rational thinking, with less interference from ur emotions.
Consider this, the emotions are bus-conductor, they tell u where to go. But let rational thinking be ur Driver, let it decide which route to take, which potholes to skip.
got it? u can't denounce either emotions or rationality. u need them both. the only real catch is to recognize their different roles and let them not interfere in each other's role.

I think it is a good idea to step back from your emotions and let some pass before making decisions.

Sure, but it's not a good idea to make hasty decisions based on your emotions because your emotions can lie to you. Logic will never steer you wrong.

Yes and no. It depends on the situation. if its one without big consequences (like what to buy somone for a birthday or something), then yes, but a large decision like buying a car or house, evaluate everything and think rationally (trust me im a car salesman and we are TRAINED to key on the emotional aspect of a purchase {why do you think we want everyone to go for a test drive???, duh! lol}
also, in a sports competition, it normally is better to play off of emotions. you typically perform better. so to answer your question, it can be beneficial to think with your emotions, but in most cases, DONT! lol

" Thinking " is about logical aspects. One can 'feel' the emotions, or recall from memory, and be aware of such memories, even deep enough to 're-live' such emotions feeling them afresh.... but what we think that we think with our emotions is an illusion created by mind. Yes, we can have emotions, and simultaneously allow thought process to logically function, if that is what is meant by 'think with emotions'.

"The mind is not for thinking, the mind is for receiving thought." Ask questions of your heart, choose the answer that is Good, positive, and loving. Ignore negative thought. Let unconditional love rule your life, not fickle, unstable emotions.
