Infants pretty much eat, sleep, fill their diapers, and that's it. If your sister is nursing, you can't really help with that, but you can take care of other things so your sister can concentrate on taking care of the baby.
My sister stayed with me for a little while after the baby was born... The most helpful things to me were for her to do household chores like washing dishes, cooking supper, and doing the baby's laundry. She also organized everything in the baby's room.

Your sister is a lucky woman!
When it's just you and your niece, make sure she is dry, fed, and comfortable, and you'll know you're doing a good job. Devote your attention to her, and don't get distracted by the TV, homework (unless she's asleep), or a phone call. If you can, check out an infant CPR course. They're offered through the Y or your local Red Cross.
When you, your sister, and your niece are together one of the best ways you can help out is to volunteer to do some chores around her house. Fold laundry, vacuum the living room, feed the cat, put on some spaghetti and sauce for dinner, etc. Anything will be a big help. As a new mom, I promise your sister will be sooo grateful. As a bonus, you'll look like the best sister ever!

If you are not around babies much, try taking an infant class through a YMCA or Red Cross. Another way is to volunteer at the local hospital maternity ward. They could always use an extra set of hands and the more you are around babies, the more comfortable you'll be. Babies can sense tention, so relax and don't forget to enjoy the baby.

Go to you local YMCA and take the babysitting course... Also take infant and child CPR... You need to be prepared.. Talk to your sis too.. She'll be able to tell you the baby's schedule and just abide by it... Have her write out what has to be done at what time... It will be good also to go to your sister's house after the baby comes and watch what she does.. Good luck to you and you sis is really lucky to have you!!

Just love your niece and take special care of her. As long as you know how to handle babies, you will be fine. If you want a refresher on taking care of babies, I recommend you read "What to Expect in the First Year". Have fun!

Your sister is lucky to have you. My sister is ten, so she's not old enough to help out a lot. I wish she was.
Babies are babies. Of course, you will love this one more because she's related to you, but as for the rest, it will all fall into place. Just support your sister, and it'll all work out.

take a babysitting class and also take a infant and child CPR class. ask your sister if she is going to any classes before the baby is born if so try to go with her. I know that i went to a baby basics class. Also try talking to people at a Babies R Us if there is one around near you they usually have different types of classes for parents to be or anyone who wants to take them.

Just relax. you will do fine. just sit down with you sister and talk to her and see what she expects from you. Mostley you will probally just be helping change diapers, making bottles, help clean the house , help get her what she needs. Little stuff like that. So don't worry. But, I would talk to your sister to be shure.
