If this person hads been behaving unreasonable for that long its unlikely to work. Its a piece of paper and in reality it cannot stop bad behaviour. Plus the courts rarely send people to prison the first time they break the injunction.
You need proof; keep an incident diary. The attacks have to be personal and persistant.
You take that to a solicitor and they send a letter as a warning, then eventually it goes to court. But you're not guaranteed to get one. And it won't stop the behaviour. All it will do is let someone in the system know theres a problem.
And if they are unstable then it may provoke a response, if they are the sort of person to say 'you can't tell me what to do' it may have the opposite effect to the one you want.

Theres probably a better way to handle this; just break contact with them. Get an answerphone. Change your phone number and don't give it to them. Ask everyone not to give them your number. If they come to the door don't let them in. Just cut them out of your life. Theres no rule says you have to talk to people.

Blood may be thicker than water but I bet people wouldn't say that if this person were a convicted rapist or child abuser. Don't feel bad, you've given them enough chances to act like a decent human. They've made their own choice.

You should seek an injunction against this relative under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. But do think of the consequences. This person is, after all, a relative. Would you really be prepared to have him/her committed to prison in the case of a breach?

If you have any reasonable proof, keep it and find a good litigation lawyer who will then apply to the courts for an injunction to be placed on said party.

No mail, telephone calls or any other kind of contact will be permitted
