"Westside Story"; I love all the music, but "Somewhere" is my favorite
SOMEWHERE
There's a place for us,
Somewhere a place for us.
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us
Somewhere.
There's a time for us,
Some day a time for us,
Time together with time spare,
Time to learn, time to care,
Some day!
Somewhere.
We'll find a new way of living,
We'll find a way of forgiving
Somewhere . . .
There's a place for us,
A time and place for us.
Hold my hand and we're halfway there.
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow,
Some day,
Somewhere!

I love South Pacific. "There is Nothing Like a Dame. Nothing in the Wooooorrrrrld!"
It's a great song with great lyrics.
Brigadoon is fantastic too. Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse are perfect. "I'll Go Home with Bonnie Jean" is my favorite song from that one.
A few other great musicals to check out:
Singing in the Rain
Easter Parade
Meet Me in St. Louis
White Christmas
Annie Get Your Gun
Rocky Horror Picture Show

It is way too hard to pick any one musical as my favorite. There are too many wonderful ones. Oklahoma, South Pacific, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, Into the Woods, the list goes on and on. My favorite songs are Carefully Taught from South Pacific and No More from Into the Woods.

Hard question, how to pick just one! I'd say almost anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I love Joseph, favorite song in there is "Those Canaan Days" or "Close Every Door." Other favorites are Ragtime (can't pick a favorite song from this show they're all good!) and Little Shop of Horrors, again they're all good songs but my favorite has to be the finale "Don't Feed the Plants."

Sweeney Todd: "Epiphany" is chilling and has an unbelievably technical and beautiful accompaniment. The cello line alone gives me chills.
Little Shop of Horrors: "Dentist" and "Now (It's Just the Gas)" are both hilarious with very dark comedic lyrics contrasted with fun, upbeat music. All theater/musicals-lovers should know this riotously funny show.
The Light in the Piazza: "Aiutami" is very emotional, with a quick break of comic relief in the middle. Love it.
Chicago: "We Both Reached for The Gun". Enough said.
Evita: "Goodnight and Thankyou" is about how each of the main character's dismiss their current lover for their new one. "I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You" is also a fabulous duet, as two people court each other with both sexual and political intentions.
P.S. Rorshach, "Popular" and "What Is This Feeling?" ("Loathing") are different songs in Wicked. Both are very well written melodically and lyrically, and can get stuck in your head for days.

I'm a big fan of all the Rodgers and Hammerstein shows. I'd have to say that my favorite show of theirs is "Carousel". If I had to choose a favorite song it would be a toss up between "If I Loved You" and "You'll Never Walk Alone".

How about a bit more old school. I'm gonna say "Bye Bye Birdie" and favorite song would be the namesake of the musical.

i love Cabaret. Every song and dance number. My favourite song from the show is the one the young 'brown shirt' boy sings - Tomorrow belongs to me. (I don't think that is the correct title). It is such a beautiful song but there is something so sinister to it because it is sung by a nazi youth prior to ww2 and to an audience of Jews and Germans. Chilling, yet beautiful.
