I'm thinking of getting a MacBookPro and I'm scared that i wont be able to do all the things I can do on my current Toshiba laptop. Has anyone converted and noticed a difference? Ever since I got my iPod I've become such an Apple convert and I'd primarily using it for iTunes and the internet. Anyone have any advice for an Mac newbee? I used them all through college so it's not the system itself I've to get used to.

i actually went from a Toshiba to a macbook like 3 months ago, i love my macbook, no real disadvanatages, apple has made their system very similar to windows, so it is very user friendly. it takes a week or two to get used to not having a right click button, and the system menu is at the top instead of the bottom, once you get used to this it is very easy. I LOVE IT!

We just got a MacBookPro yesterday. So far, no worries with it at all.

"I'm scared that i wont be able to do all the things I can do on my current Toshiba laptop" - what kind of things do you mean?

In answer to the response about word and excel, this is easily solved by downloading Sun Microsystems' OpenOffice. This program opens word, excel and powerpoint files without the need to convert them first. It's also FREE!

It can be downloaded at http://www.openoffice.org/

You'll need to run the X11 installation which is on disc 1 that came with your Mac, and then download the corresponding version from the site.

I would say go for it

The mac itself is user friendly after a few days but I am very pissed off that 'Word' and 'Office' have to be purchased separately and that has defiantly left me up s.hit creek without a paddle since they cost about £300 a piece!
