How can these arrogant, egotistic promulgaters of pernicious retoric, value themselves worthy of a basic salary of 100k.Whats your opinion.

I think it is very arrogant to demand an extra £40,000 a year when Brown wants all public sector worker payrises to be restricted to 2%. Please don't compare US politicians to the ones in the UK. I am sure there are hard working MP's but they already receive a whole host of benefits such as huge mileage allowance, subsidised meals and bar in Westminister.Plus a load of other allowances. Most employ their own wives and or partners as researchers and such like (keeping it in the family).
They also benefit from long holiday periods away from Parliament. In recent years they have improved there working conditions (better hours and a shorter week) while other workers conditions go the other way. They have also improved their own pension benefits while at the same time reducing pension benefits for other workers because it costs too much.
No I don't think they deserve the increase, they should get a 3% increase like most other people and thats that!!

Clearly, you have never seen what a politician needs to do in their day to day life.
I worked as an intern for a US Congressman in the 1980's and early 1990's (when I was in high school and college). He was extremely hard working, served his constituents well (was elected to 9 consecutive terms - 18 years in office before he retired). His day would begin before 8am, and not end until about 10pm (sometimes later). This is in DC or in the district. Congressmen, especially, are constantly campaigning since they are up for election every 2 years, so when he was not doing congressional business, he was campaigning.
They earn every bit of their salaries, in my opinion.

Politicians are greedy fat little liars and I HATE THEM ALL!!! If someone could name me one MP who has been nothing but a saint, then I'll deep fat fry my hat and eat it.
I'm 17, and I'm already disolusioned (sp?) with politics in the UK. There's no-one decent to vote for, and they're only interested in taxes...I seriously want to banish them all to hell.

why do you think they are so fat? 99K is spent at marks and spenser of burgers and chips. the only reason blair isnt so fat is because his wife spends that 99K on new pairs of shoes
