I played Santa Clause for a large family gathering for many years. There was a special needs child that came every year. She was TERRIFIED of Santa!! The first visit she would not come near me. The second year her mother held her near me for a picture. The third year, I sat and gave out the gifts and posed with them for pictures. Her grandfather moved next to me and she RAN for her present. She sat on my lap for the Santa PictureI After that, she had NO FEAR!!! Those were the days...

As we usually do we, have a Christmas brunch with everyone in my family and exchange gifts. This year my sister made a calendar for our Grandmother with a photo of all the grandchildren together. (we all live all over and at least one of us is missing when we get together) My grandmother opened her gift, had a look and quickly closed her gift. She grabbed my sister and gave her a hug. Her reaction made my aunt shed a tear. It was wonderful to see how a gift can hit someone in the heart.

there are many, one favorite was watching my grandson try to wake his uncle sleeping on the couch so he could open presents. when shaking didn't work he started rubbing uncles ears and then he said he was going to lick them .... that finally worked ... best part it's on tape so we forgot all about it for a few years - he was about 5 then and he's 16 this year and still laugh when we watch it. I think that's why pictures and video become so important ... you get to "relive those moments"
