I understand that u put ur hand in there put how do they move there hands and stuff?

they have one hand working the head and mouth, and another working the puppets arms with black sticks.

The guy that controls Elmo was on Oprah one time and was controlling Elmo in front of the audience.

There are sticks or wires attached to the loose limbs, and the puppeteer works them with one hand and the body with the other. The larger creatures (like Big Bird) have a person inside the costume.

Its actually done by a whole team. Each character can take up to 3 people to control. They each have long poles and invisible wire.

The only thing I can think of the arms are electronic (?). I hope someone knows the answer because sense my kid started watching it I always wondered.
