...by encouraging divisiveness? There are so many liberal haters and conservative haters on here, and across the nation who continue to push their agenda of isolating those with whom they disagree. Is this in any way beneficial to or country? I believe that we are as strong as the connections that bind us together. But if an administration, a party or a movement of citizens practice judgment and divisiveness we will grow weak. As Lincoln put it so well "a house divided against itself cannot stand". We can disagree and argue amongst ourselves but when we turn those disagreements into active hatred do we not weaken our country in the face of its many enemies?

Sadly, the real world is full of divisiveness. I encountered it on the campaign trail nationwide in the recent elections.

RIGHT ON!!!!!! Both sides are supposed to have the best interests of the country at heart...but sadly, their words and deeds are focussed on destroying the other. As a result, the country suffers and the US continues to look foolish in the eyes of the rest of the world.

I really think that a lot of the problem stems from the vicious campaigns we have had from both sides. Even primary races within a party are focused more on "why you should not choose the other guys" instead of "why you should choose me". I am sure that the multitude of media opportunities has a lot to do with why the attacks have become more common place as I am sure that this has always happened to some extent. But I doubt that Abraham Lincoln ever called his opposition "girlie men".
With that being said, I feel that a lot of the hatred is rooted in these attacks. Think of it as a co-worker or classmate that says or does something mean to you. You still have to pretend to get along and work together, but that hurt and anger will always be there. I think that the underlying anger has a lot to do with what plays out in American politics.

Even during Vietnam, this country wasn't as divided as it is today. While I'm sure the polarization began long before, I like putting the starting point during the Clinton Administration. Had this country been as divided during the second world war, we would all be speaking German. Trouble is, most people know no ethical boundries and with the Clinton's, morality went right out the window. Reagan and his administration tried to legislate morality and discovered it can't be done. Most everyone insists that they are the only ones who are right, when in fact, most don't even know the facts and refuse to recognize the facts when they're shown.
Still, I strongly suspect that if we were attacked again, we would somehow manage to all pull together just long enough to defeat our attckers.

I do believe the liberal media in this country has helped in making this nation one of the most hated across the world. I mean when foriegners look and see nothing but negativity from the media and Hollywood towards our leaders, how do you think they will react? The liberal media pushes this divisiveness on us. I have thought for a long time that the media will be the downfall of this great country, and I think it's becoming clearer and clearer everyday. We need to do some cleaning in this country and it needs to start in DC, and the Dems and Reps are both included. Then we need to go after Holllywood. Most everything that comes out of there is trash. Stop putting these cleberties on a pedastool and defintely keep them out of any political matters. There actors and actress for a reason, they were too stupid to do anything else. Then we need to tackle the big one, the MEDIA. They have too much access. There's too much information out there. They would mess up a wet dream, ya know? They meddle into many issues. There shouldn't be reporters over in Iraq following the every move of the military. This is war and things get natsy, we don't need them putting more pressure on our boys over there.

People have big mouth... but at the end of the day... when election time is around the corner... they are more concerned about how much money the government will put in their wallet than any silly war in Iraq.
Lets not forget that despite all the screaming and shouting by the anti-war in Iraq mob...
George Bush was re-elected
Tony Blair was re-elected
John Howard was re-elected.
People have no spine.

Divisiveness is good.
The country isn't going to fall apart over IRAQ.
re inflammatory posts on YA....
A large number of them just seem to be blurbs....trolls.
No links, no quotes, no details.
The last time the country seemed to be on the same page was on eve of Iraq Invasion and for some time beyond when country was bamboozled into thinking that Saddam was serious threat to region and to America.
And look where that got us.

going out in the real world you don't have this divisiveness. Most of the adults on here are able to share there political beliefs, and the kids on here want to be a part of it.

Since the Abraham Lincoln Administration, No republican conservative administration has ever done anything to help this country. Read About American history since 1865 and most every history book will describe what has taken place in every administration. Do some research on this subject you will be amazed at how the Grand Old Party (Republicans) have consistently worked to divide this country.

I agree with you in part, but I do not separate US liberals from terrorists. The reason? Their goals, especially in 04 election, are the same. Does it strike you as odd they both wanted Bush out of office?
And it is not about hate. It is about pure common sense. I can look with my eyes and hear with my ears the kinds of things liberals say and do.
Also, Lincoln didn't 'put it'. He might have said it, but Jesus said it first (or at least before Lincoln) when He was talking about the unpardonable sin of rejecting God by attributing God's miracles to Satan.
