Hi, I have 2 gaming computers in my house, one in the basement and one in the top floor. Both of these computers are running and ready to pwn, but the computer on the top floor is not hooked up to the internet when the one in the basement IS hooked up. What exactly do I need to buy to have the computer on the top floor run off the same dsl in the basement either wirelessly or not. What steps in Windows XP program do I need to do to make so the computer can run the internet off explorer or AOL?

The wireless home network is the answer and in most cases will work wonderfully. One minor problem. Exactly how far apart are the basement and top floor? What kind of building material is between the basement and the top floor?

The 802.11 standard has limited broadcast capability, but there are remedies. With the wireless router in the basement, you can add a wireless access point (or range extender) somewhere between the basement and top floor. Get a wireless router unless you want to run cables between the 2 rooms... Follow the instructions that come with the router - they are really easy to setup.

You will need a wireless network card for the computer on the top floor and the one in the basement can be directly connected to the router with a patch cord...

You need a router. The dsl goes into your modem, then to a router which runs your home network. I suggest Linksys. The guys at Cisco have a great organization and great tech support.
