It's a bunch of people who think they are hardcore, and they really aren't, and they suck at everything else in life, so they have to create the stupid lyrics and sing them, my 6 year old cousin can come up with better lyrics! They don't even have any vocal talent.

My father thought the same thing about my music. But, yes I do think that rap is not my cup of tea. To each his own. I try to listen with an open mind sometimes because I want to be sure I am not putting all rap music in the same box.

For the same reason that it is wrong to believe that all Irish are violent alcoholics, Blacks are lazy, or that all white people are Oklahoma-building bombing terrorist or Enron-like callus bastard thieves its is wrong to stereotype all rappers because of the few rappers that you have decided to actually listen to. Rap started poetic outlet for the under-represented and unappreciated and while I do wholeheartedly agree that the large record companies choose primarily the poorest form of rapper to shovel down the throats of consumers calling the tripe gangsta or hip hop, there are absolutely rappers that still represent what true rap is. (and neither you nor your six year old cousin can come up with better lyrics than a true rapper)

Alright, I enjoy all music (even some country). I think you're giving rap too hard of a time. Most of the stuff you hear on the radio, is admittedly crap. Most of all music you hear on the radio is crap and is not a good representation of the genre at all. Try listening to some underground rap...I think it might change your mind. Listen to The Roots, they're music is beautiful. It takes a lot of talent to rap - I know I can't enunciate that quickly!

I have to agree with u on some of it some rappers are like that but not all some rappers write and rhyme about what they have been through in their life and how they became a multi million or even billion dollar rapper and what brought them this far and u got rappers designing clothes giving back to the communities and everything so before u come knocking rappers maybe u should listen to rappers like Eminem,50 cent, or Tupac listen to those lyrics carefully and its like they are telling a story. But for other rappers like Bow Wow even though i love him he try to act all gangsta now that he is 19 and hardcore and know damn well he wasn't raised like that.

Well if you were smart you would realize that many rappers talk about their life and I bet if you came face to face with a rapper you wouldn't be talking that s.h.i.t. Many of the people that rap have gone through things you would never be able to handle. As far as them sucking at everything else in life how would you know that? You don't know anything about them as people. I could say more but I don't want to waste my time trying to make you realize things you don't even care to understand.

You truly don't understand what you're talking about, just because you can't relate with that lifestyle. As for me I can. And if you truly listened to the lyrics you'd find somethin real. Have you ever lived in the project's or been poor. Many of us who have grown up in a hardcore area have learned to be tough. You're probably just jealous that it's makin a killin and your stuck in your redneck life chilling with THE KKK!!!!!!!

I almost agree with you. Depending on what the lyrics is these rap 'artists' are telling you about a life they have, or a life they want. I also think that they use rap to manipulate the minds of young people to strangle their desires of a normal life and do nothing but illegally hustle, do and sell drugs, and get girls pregnant.

I can't fully agree with you about that, but I almost feel it's because they flunked out of singing....rapping is the next best thing to someone who is tone deaf in MOST cases, not every rapper can't sing, but most won't be able to hold a ballad.

You have to give it to them though...many come from poverty and are able to pull themselves out by entertaining the masses. Even if the lyrics are stupid (I wouldn't know because I cannot understand the majority of them) I would do the same for even half of the money that they are making, not to mention the fame and women. Honestly, wouldn't you?

They used to be a bit more noble, singing about the hard times and difficult life they live. That was more poetic. Now, with more lyrics glorifying drugs, violence, and "bling", they are mostly garbage vendors.
