Not a joke- I am a slob and I am working hard to clean up my act.
I need some of YOUR "short cuts" to keep it up!

First go through each room at a time and declutter it. Buy storage tubs for things you don't use often and store them in the garage or basement. If you haven't used the item for over 6 months donate it or toss. Get rid of the knick knacks. Same goes with clothing and shoes. Bathroom cabinets and Linen Closets are always cluttered keep only the towels, sheets, etc that will fit neatly in the closet. Throw out dated products, medicine and other misc things that never get used. Buy small plastic tubs to store a first aid kit and medicine. Same goes for the bathroom.

Don't allow yourself to have a junk draw in anyroom keep the motto "EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE" Bankstatements, bills, insurance papers and other importmant documents should be filed in a file keeper. Financial documents and other very important documents will need to be kept, but you can t shred your bills after 3 months of payment.

After you have finished the task of decluttering your house get in the habit of putting things away when your done. Turn the T.V. off and spend 30-40 picking up the house each day before bed.

I use multi purpose cleaning products. Lysol wipes are great in the bathroom. Each morning after I get ready I wipe the counter, toilet and tub down. Same for the kitchen I wipe everything down before I walk out the door.

I use the Murphy's Oil Soap on my furniture and wood floors.

When the hamper is full do the laundary and put it away.

On the weekend do a deep clean on your house.

After awhile it becomes second nature to fit cleaning into your daily activity. And there is nothing better than coming home to a nice clean house after a stressfull day

We use the 6 month rule....We have a yard sale once a year. If we have items (Clothing, shoes, cookware, etc..) that we haven't used in the past 6 moths to 1 year, then it goes into the yard sale pile. Once the yard sale is over, all remaining items are donated to the local church charity. Nothing comes back into the house.

Don't let mail or dishes build up. Go through the mail daily, put junk mail in the trash, bills in a filing system, magazines in the recycle bin when you are done. Wash your dishes nightly.

Being neat is mostly about discipline. You have to discipline yourself to be neat.

The easiest way to keep a clean house is to keep clutter to a minimum, as you go. If you see something out of place, replace it. If not, before you know it, you will have a sloppy looking abode. If you don't need it, throw it away. Stay away from the packrat mentality. If you make a mess, clean it up immediately.

I believe the worst offender is procrastination. "I will clean it up when I get back." "I might use that someday."

I pick up every night before I go to bed, throw trash away, etc.
