Even the people in Illinois are saying "Who the &$#% is Obama?"

Look at what he's done for Illinois, NOTHING!! Why would the American people vote for someone that only has 2 years of political experience?

I don't care what percentage white he is.

Yes, race is always an issue in the US, unfortunately, whether it's Obama or Colin Powell or whoever.

I think Obama is too liberal and too inexperienced, but that's independent of race.

Barack Hussein Obama (born August 4, 1961) is the junior U.S. Senator from Illinois. According to the U.S. Senate Historical Office, he is the fifth African American Senator in U.S. history and the only African American currently serving in the U.S. Senate.[1]

Obama delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention while serving as an Illinois state legislator. In November 2004, he was elected to the United States Senate as a Democrat. Recent opinion polls identify Obama as the second most popular choice among Democratic voters for their party's nomination in the 2008 U.S. presidential election.[2]

Good question,
Not as well I'm sure.

Come on, young half white/half black senator gaining lotsa steam towards a presidential bid in our uber-race conscious country?

The media eats stuff like this up, If he was just some white guy he'd blend in with all the others. He's a great guy and hes got good ideals and virtues but without the race thing he likely wouldnt be known outside of the political world.

Given that everything about him was the same with the exception to his race I would have to say yes. The speech he gave at the democratic convention was very powerful. The power of that speech had nothing to do with his race, it was due to his thoughts, ideas, personality and the way that he carried himself.

Yes and no. We would know about him, as he is well mannered and well spoken. However, he would not be considered presidential material so quickly without a special reason for the media to back him. Remember when everyone was talking about Colon for president? A lot of the reasoning behind it was that Colon was black. Same case with Barak.

What, pray tell, does his race have to do with anything? His popularity has little or nothing to do with his race. Considering that the vast majority of Americans are white, and your insinuation is clearly racial oriented, based on your premise, he should be LESS popular.

Definitely. And he would have been a real contender for 2008 Presidency.

I most certainly would. But then again, I know who the President pro tempore of the Senate is, and I can most likely name more Senators than you'd be able to.

I don't think Obama's race is what draws attention to him. It's his personality.

My dear, real integrity shines from within, and has nothing to do with one's race or skin color.

How much dope did you smoke before you got the idea to post this stupid question?
