Material possessions are one thing, but I believe the best thing anybody can give another person is fond memories and good advice coming from their own life experiences. My father has given me great advice pretty much every day I've been alive, but the one piece that sticks with me is:
"Make your life how you want it to be."

My father has been dead for a real long time, but I remember when I was 10, my friend got hit and killed by a car while we were playing hide and seek. I was so scared to go to sleep that night, because I was afraid I was going to die as well... My father told me, " You won't die, God only takes one person a day". I felt better and went to sleep.

Dad always told me to give a man a fair days work for a fair days pay and I remember it all the time at work.

thru the tough teen years when fighting with my mom, my dad said "your friends will come and go but never forget your mom is always going to be your mom, she's not going to walk away" and I realized that was the truth ... and we became friends and I learned to appreciate family more for that reason.
