Norton is a good AntiVirus program, but not the best.
First of all it surely slows down your computer and it's requirements are high.

2nd reason is that it's not free.
I use AVGFree and I haven't ever had a problem with it. It updates itself very often and it also protects against spyware etc.

It's a good antivirus but it uses way too much memory. I went to Trend Micro PC-cillon and I like it much better than Norton. Norton just slowed my machine too much and I have 2 G RAM.

Nope. The best antivirus software is a SECURE OPERATING SYSTEM, that is anything on Earth except Windows. I use OS X, Linux and BSD and I have not been bothered by a virus since 1992.

Well its both good and bad, though its one of the top security softwares but in the past it has been known for its security loop holes. But it never gave me a problem and has saved me from many virus attacks so i'm happy with it. If you want a free ware then the best bet would be to go for AVG.

No, I own Norton Anti-virus, and it's a real resource hog and annoyance. Look at some of the other programs previously mentioned

I love Norton's b/c it protects your whole PC not just the window you have open. I found out the hard way that most Internet companies offering free anti virus are only protecting the window you have open, not your whole PC. I also purchased a spyware sweeper called fire dog which is added protection. Until you have your PC crash you don't realize how vulnerable the PC is.

I never liked norton- it caused problems with my computer. I dislike it so much that if software or a computer comes with free norton installed I just won't buy it.

It's crap. Get AVG, it's free. And do online free scans from Trend Micro's housecall. Do this every week what ever antivirus program you have.
