I have put medicine on his leg and wrapped his leg and taken care of him. Yesterday he finally went to the dr. When he was filling out paperwork, he didn't put me down as an emergency contact. Am I being silly or is this yet another red flag? We have lived together for over three years. He expects me to put him down as a contact. His leg is better, but I have another stab in my heart.

He might put you down as an emergency contact - but legally you would have no bearing on his care without a durable power of attorney for healthcare. You cannot even legaly inquire about him at a hospital without his explicit consent.

Living together does not make you legal next of kin. So rationally he needs to place the person legally responsible for making his health care decisions in the event that there is an emergency situation.
If he put you on the list, had an emergency - they called you, you arrive and they find out that you are not legally the person who can make his health care decisions if he is not able to speak for himself then they must track down the person who has that legal right. All this time care may be delayed because they are digging through "couple ego" issues trying to find the right person - not the person who wanted to be listed as the emergency contact so she would "know he loved her".

To your addition I add: He put down his LEGAL next of kin. Get over yourself -- you are not his legal next of kin! You have zero legal right to make his health care decisions in an emergency! (Adult male legal next of kin IF NOT MARRIED - children then parents. Sounds like he's smarter than you!)

It depends on WHO he put down as emergency contact. No one or his mom or his brother? Maybe he thought you wouldn't be as available as his mom or brother or a guy friend? I wouldn't read too much into it.

we women tend to over analyze the things our man does. something you think is important means little to nothing to him. half the time they don't even think about what they are doing & are totally surprised when we say somthing about it.
i would say that it was nothing personal & not to make a big deal out of it.
