I think that I might have lost my mucus plug a couple of days ago, but I'm not really sure.. It was kind of an odd thing.. There was a little bit of bloody mucus, not a lot at all, but when I whipped there was a fair amout of light blood not so much to be alarmed about, but since then I have had increased discharge. I am 33 weeks pregnant, 34 weeks on sunday. What could this possibly be?

That sounds normal, but you should still call your doctor. Some people lose their mucus plug all at once. I lost my mucus plug in sort of sections, but yes there was more watery discharge, & light blood, I almost thought my water might be leaking, but they examined me & told me it was normal. I've heard of some people going into labor within 24 hours of losing their plug. I ended up being induced at a week overdue - so there really is no definite answer of when you would go into labor. Still, call your doctor, they may want to examine you, and they can definitely aleviate your concerns.

That sounds like the description of my mucus plug. Slightly bloody, etc. The thing is, mine happened at 40 weeks and 5 days and I immediately went into labor...as in within 20 minutes. However, it can be different for you. Woman can lose their mucus plug up to a few weeks before delivery and it's typically nothing to be worried about. And it could be taking awhile to lose it all...it can still be coming out. I don't know how your OB/Gyn does it, but I would see him every week starting at 34 weeks. Are you due for a checkup in the next day or so? I'd definitely call the OB and see what he/she thinks it could be. If they think it's just your mucus plug, then there probably isn't anything to worry about. He may want you to come in for a checkup, but I'd say your body is just getting ready for labor. As for when you would deliver, there is no telling. Your body typically knows when is right for you!

Good luck and congrats!

i started to get an increase in the snail trail when i was getting closer to d-day. it still took about 3 or 4 wks, though.
i thought i had lost my mucus plug like 3 different times...i still don't know when i lost it, but i think it looked more like a clear-ish gel with some red in it.

you can't say when you will deliver based on when you lose the plug. just hang in there and know that you are getting close to the end:)

take care.

My girlfriend is pregnant and I didn't even know about a mucus plug. Sounds gross.

All I can say is when you're pregnant all kinds of weird things happen to your body so my guess is it's normal.

It is possible that it was your mucus plug, check with your doctor. I would suggest you get in soon, no need to wait. Good luck.

You can loose your mucus plug up to two weeks before labor. Call you Gyno today for an appointment and to see if you are dilated.

The mucus plug doesn't have to be big. I wouldn't worry about it until you start feeling contractions.

It sounds like "show" and if so, is generally an indication that labor will begin within a few hours or days.

Please call your midwife or doctor and ask to speak to their office nurse, describe your symptoms and ask her to report them to the doctor. this is almost always a free call and the doctor may want to examine you, or not, based on other signs and symptoms you may be having.

All my best wishes and a prayer for your safe delivery!

that happened to me the day i gave birth to my son. it is first sign that the process begins. talk to your doctor. anyway a child at 34 weeks is very normal, has well developed lungs and can survive without problems in outside world. talk to your doctor and don't worry. :)
