I'm a Liberal, for the most part, but I would depart with most liberals over abortion. I'm opposed to gay marriage and I'm a strong supporter of free speech.

So, how about you? Where do you depart from most conservatives, if you're a conservative, or from most liberals if you're a liberal?

So, when I was in college in the '60s, I was considered to be left-wing radical, so far left that I was almost right.
I have not changed, but today in 2006, my views are considered to be radical conservative.
As I have stated, I have not changed. I still want less government interference, lower taxes, more personal freedom, the current freedoms (circa 1966) upheld and protected (most now gone, unfortunately).
I am anti-big government, pro ecology (with some sense, not just an environazi, i.e., responsible usage of natural resources; clean mining, oil drilling, etc., replanting of lumber fields).
I have not changed, the political spectrum seems to have shifted far left around me.

I am an American Patriot first, I don't follow any party line, I honestly disagree with this obsession people have on gay marriage, abortion and all the other crap congress wastes time on.

The issues that concern me are those issues that can have a dramatic effect on the lives of all americans.

I realized long ago that, issues such as gay marriage, gay rights, abortion issues, environmental issues to name just a few are used by our elected officials to distract the general population from the real issues that plaque our country.

A majority of our elected officials waste billions on their pet projects and special interests. Few of them rarely give a damn about the people in this country that could really use some real leadership everywhere in government.

Politicians just say what they believe the american people want to hear. If they say it often enough, and correctly, they will convince a majority of the brain dead in this country to vote for them. The american media provides the venue for them to do this.

Conservatives are nothing more than a bunch of "Religious Zealot Right wing nut jobs" that have no gut's don't mind going to war for the wrong reason's, don't mind curtailing the rights and freedoms of all americans. Basically conservatives are spineless crazy people.

Liberal's are bleeding hearts, want to do everything for the poor and disadvantaged by simply handing them a cash handout for every goddamned thing under the sun. Instead of putting limits on this type of assistance and some oversight which would require these money sucking lazy unfortunate bastards to get a backbone and work for what they need in life.

Niether Liberals nor the Conservatives want over sight for what they do and do not do. If we had more over sight with some teeth too it that would hammer these bastards for not doing their job we might one day be able to fix a good many problems in this country,

Personally, I am a Liberal, because anything to the left of extremist hard line conservatives is denounced as a liberal.

I am anti-abortion ethically and on my state level, but I feel abortion serves a functional purpose in society, and shouldn't be a matter for the feds to decide on.
gay marriage is a non-issue to me, because I don't plan to marry a gay person, nor do I care to dictate what is right or wrong to those who do plan to. I also don't feel my marriage is threatened by gays being able to do the same thing. Those who do, have a very shallow view of marriage.

I believe that removing Saddam from power, was the right thing to do, but was done improperly, and at the wrong time. we should have dealt with September 11th first.
why?
because everyone claims that leaving Iraq will give terrorist the view that we are weak Americans, and tell them that they can get away with such deeds. what message do you think allowing them to carry out September 11th, and then going after someone who wasn't involve sends?
sure doesn't send a clear message that if you jack with us we'll kick your butt does it?? it send the message that if you jack with us, we'll kick someone Else's butt.

I think definitely the border should be secured, and Bush's Guest worker program should be phased out, but only if outsourcing goes the same way, so companies can afford to hire American workers.

and i believe that the 2nd amendment, is the only thing that truely keeps our government from doing what power hungry politicians and would-be tyrants wished it could do.

Like you, I am very liberal.
Unlike you, I am a strong supporter of gay marriage.
However, just as you do, I "depart" with liberals over the abortion issue.
I am also a firm believer that we have the right to own fire arms.

As a republican I believe in most of what my party represents. I however disagree with the stances on illegal immigration, I believe in some cases that abortion may be needed and I totally support the right that everyone has their own opinion and should not be "slammed" for their beliefs. I do not believe that being outspoken is a "traitor" trait, I believe in human rights and personal rights, in personal responsibility for our own actions and the bottom line is agree to disagree.

I'm mostly moderate and a little hardcore where it concerns the strength of the nation but refuse either label of liberal or conservative.
I could not care less about gay marriage. Don't like abortion but figure as I am not having the child, I have no right to say one way or the other, am in favor of stem cell research and I support our presence in Iraq.

No label for me thanks.

I'm a conservative who is pro choice to a certain extent. I don't believe abortion should be an option in birth control. I'm against gay marriage, but gays have a right to be, but I don't celebrate it, I am a strong supporter of freedom of speech and the freedom to make my own choices. So I am just your typical conservative.

Well I am against affirmative action.
I also am against detaining terrorists like most liberals, however I think they should just be executed on the spot.
That said I am neither liberal nor conservative. I am a Democrat only because they are the lesser of two evils.

I do not belong to any parties and I am in lock step with my views. however, I can be persuaded to change views if you have a good argument.

I depart from the far right and the far left. They use tunnel vision to view things and only see what they want and both are bad for America.

I'm a conservative. And I believe in some kind of Homosexual Union. (Be it Marriage or a Civil Union) Working in the Insurance industry for many years has opened me eyes to the problems Homosexual couples face.
