They get in the refrigerator because they are all over your kitchen. They are eating the crud on your gaskets and crawl in when you open the door or the bottom of your gasket dosen't fit and they just walk in. I bet you will find mashed ones where the gasket touches the refrigerator. I have been an appliance tech. for 35 years.
Every time I find roaches in the refrigerator the kitchen is covered with them. If you were serious, you would not ask that question, you would clean up that pig pen and call an exterminator. Sorry to be blunt, I have seen it many times and it's gross as hell. If I have to replace a part I leave it with you. I don't want them in my truck.

They get into the refrigerator because there's probably food in it. Roaches like food. This is not a real problem. Roaches are a good source of protein.

I think that you should check the packaging of your food before you put anything into the refrigerator and make sure you shut the door properly. You should then get the pest control of your local council to come and put traps down as soon as possible, because before you know it your whole house will be infested with the filthy creatures. They say that they are clean insects, but believe me you don't want to step on them in the dark.

OMG, I never heard of that. You need a better seal, clean the frig out good. Try some bay leaves, I have heard roaches don't like them, I do not know if it works, but give it a try. Also, you could put out a little sugar mixed with baking soda, it kinda bloats them up and they explode. We tried that on ants hills in the yard, it has worked.

They have even been found on an Apollo flight to the Moon. Doubt if they'll survive there though!
NASA passenger check out must be as good as the UK -- maybe they were wearing veils.

Most likely the eggs of the cockroach are getting into your refridgerator, then hatching. Eggs may be laid on food when it is outside your refridge.

Hope this helps!
