What possesses people to give their children stupid names? I know a Donald McDonald and a Bryan O'Brien but Frank Zappa named his kid Dweezil, how would you like to grow up with that name? And what did Geldof's ex-missus name her kids, crikey, too bad to think of?

I have no idea, but I read years ago that Dweezil was named after his father's nickname for his mother's little toe!

Dweezil and Moonunit are kids from famous people, they're not growing up in the little towns across america ... I think unusual is fine, but you have to think clearly about where these kids grow up and what you'll do to ensure their sense of individual when all the kids start questioning them on their names. And don't forget to keep in mind how their initials look on paper too .. some combos are just not meant to be

I don't know but I feel bad for some kids with f@#$%ed up names. The parents are just trying to be different and I can understand that but think about the kid's future and most of all his school years before naming him something so weird.

I actually had some friends named Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter! No joking! I always wondered to myself, what was their mother thinking??? I know a girl named Misty Weathers, her cousin is named Stormey Weathers. How odd? I think some mothers just want to be so different that they come up with these crazy off the wall names! Maybe for attention. Who knows nowdays?!!!!!!!!

I don't think Dweezil is that bad, but names like Donald McDonald and Brian O'Brien are retarded. I knew a guy named Tod Todd. No lie. I'm like WTF WERE YOU'RE PARENTS THINKING?

It's one thing to make up an interesting, different name. It's another to name your kid the same thing as it's last name. That's just mean.

Oh and I like Gweneth Paltrow's babys name.

Don't forget Gwyeth Paltrow's kid Apple. Come on! Or Cher's son Elijah Blue. Didn't Nicholas Cage just name his son Kahlil after superman? What's next Anakin? To answer your question I have no idea. Maybe it's for attention, maybe its a lapse in judgement...Maybe it's after a song...like Punky Brewster's real name Soleil Moon...

try working in the school system and having to take some of these names seriously every day~~~~ we have a Whisper (girl) and also an Echo(girl) not to mention Ryder(boy) and Harley middle name is David (boy) I agree ,the parents are thinking something different is cool.

I suspect some name their children somewhat as a projection of their personalities, thinking less, perhaps, than they should of how the names will affect the children.

i think my favorite is Jason's Lee's son, Pilot Inspektor... I guess it is more acceptable for famous people to give their children unusual names because in the end, they are still the child of a celebrity. People will be less likely to tease them.
