Yes, it can. However, most chess players would not put the queen next to the king to be taken. Therefore, it is likely that the queen was guarded (backed up) by another piece or pawn. You couldn't take the queen because then the backup piece would take your king. (It's against the rules for the king to move into check, which is what you'd be doing if you took the guarded queen.)

sure if the queen took a piece next to the king and then the king could take the queen ASLONG as it doesn´t put him in check. But why anyone would sacrifice a queen for that?? so the computer was cheatin ( as usual)

Of course. Unless by doing so the king moves into check from another piece. Very few players would be stupid enough put their queen in this position.

The simple answer is yes.

The reason why you could not take it was because you were in check. In other words... something else was protecting the Queen to stop you taking it.

No half decent chess player would put his queen next to the king to be taken. If he does... it is because his queen is protected.

the king can take the queen as long as he does not wind up in check after capturing
however the queen has to COME to the king (has to move one space next to him) for him to capture
the king CAN NEVER actually move himself to capture the queen cuz he'd be in check

Yes. as long as doing so does not put the king in check by another piece on the board.

yes king can move 1 space in any direction...as long as not a check position..you must have put king into a check position hun...if queen had you checked you can only move out of check position without taking an opponents piece...:)

Sure, as long as taking the queen doesn't put the king into check elsewhere.

I can not see the board, so it is impossible to deal with your specific case. But my guess is that something was protecting the queen from being taken. Go look.

Surely can, so long as it is not putting the king in check by any other piece
