I guess some people feel they have to go because it's what everyone else is doing and they feel like they don't want to miss out on something.
I would rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon personally, but that's just my preference :o)

Reminds me of a story. This guy, his wife has her card pinched, gets a call from the cops four weeks later to say they caught the guy and retrieved the card. The husband of the woman asks how uch the guy spent in the four weeks, and on hearing the sum, he says to the police "let him go and give him back the card, he spends less than my wife".

Perhaps she's shopping for a better deal than what you've tagged her with? If I were her, I'd be looking for a new husband - one that doesn't go whining on a silly Internet site about how broke he is and instead goes out and remedies the situation!
