i'll guess that it's a whirlpool. you can get a kit for $30.00 that will fix the dryer so that it runs like new. it's a common thing with them. the kit comes with the belt, drum support rollers, and the belt idler pulley. the instructions are easy to follow and have great pictures to show you the steps to take. you can get it at a sears store or on line. you just need to know if the dryer is 27" or 29" wide and if the lint filter is on top of the dryer or in the door. doing this repair is like new tires and a front end alignment is to your car. it should run true and quiet when you are done. just vacuum up the lint while you are doing the repair and the dryer will be like new. good luck and happy new year!!

It's a bearing or a belt. YES check first for what might be the economical repair/replacement issue.

...your dryer is 15 yrs..old.. what happen when you became 15..you started to experiment with your body and the squealing noise is just your drying rubbing one out..just kidding it sounds like the belt might need to be replaced or tighten..if it still works and you don't have the cash to spend then keep it..

lubricate the pulleys, and NO, WD-40 is not a lubricant. It is a degreaser and will make things much worse in short order. Spray the belt with belt dressing to keep it from slipping.
