Sure, especially if she's willing to try to learn and most especially if I loved her. A lifetime of eating out and frozen food is a quick path to being fat and impoverished, though.

People aren't born with the knowledge of getting recipes right. It is something that everyone has to learn. Sure there are people with natural talent. But that is in everything. Some people are just naturally better at somethings then others. But that doesn't mean that everyone else is completely incompetent! You can learn how to cook. Just pick a specific dinner, like Italian, or a pork chop dinner, or maybe even a few simple Asian recipes. Or a dessert. Try them out. Have a game plan! Pick a recipe, read over and over so you can get most of it remembered, and you are more comfortable with it. Make sure you have everything you need before you start. And that you have plenty of time to complete it. Go into it with a calm and open mind, and don't get frustrated if something doesn't come out right. Cooking is fun, I promise you. You just have to find the things your good at cooking. And it's just like anything else, you have to practice to get better.

I'm sure as long as your future husband knows that it isn't 1950 anymore, you're okay. Besides, why is it up to the woman to cook anyway? If you plan on being a stay at home wife and mother, then maybe you should invest in a cookbook or something along those lines. However if you plan on having a career outside of family life, then you should both learn to cook and have fun with it.

Probably 90% of guys the age you might marry would line up for blocks to marry an attractive and smart gal. Joan Rivers once quoted: get serious ladies; men didn't marry you for clean lanolium floors. Same goes for the cooking skills - you will learn unless your a princess.

Betty Mae Bop,
In time you'll be able to cook whatever you want (Betty Crocker Cookbook), don't worry about the small stuff worry about getting hooked up with the right guy. My wife couldn't boil water when we first were married (no kidding) and I bought her a cook book and I've been living like a king ever since. But if you continue to dine out it'll never happen so try. I can count the bad meals I've had on one hand and we just laughed and ate it anyway. Best of luck to you.

When I was 20 my culinary skills consisted of macaroni and cheese!
Now a "few" years later I am an excellent cook. You can learn over time - besides this is 2006 (soon to be 2007!) who's to say the man can't be the cook in a relationship?

Yes, there are some guys who would.
I saw some learn it together and learn more about each other. C'mon, cooking isn't everything.
But feelings. Feelings are the most important.
Anyway, cooking is real cool.
You could be the cook for yourself you know.
When you are totally feeling knocked down.
You care about yourself when no one is too busy to.
So, be the cook and helper of yourself.
Have it as a hobby, but not for someone else.
That way you'd learn to love it.

You have to learn a little, no one can afford to eat out 3 times a day, 7 days a week especially paying for two people. It is economical to cook. It is easy, you should watch the food network channel on TV. It will inspire you! You certainly don't have to cook all the time but yes you need to know how. What if you have kids, you definitely couldn't eat out all the time unless you married a millionare, or someone who like to do all the cooking. That just is weird to me, men aren't suppose to cook! I guess I was just raised where women do the cooking.
It takes years to master the kitchen so don't be discouraged if things don't turn out the way it was suppose too. Try it agian till you get it right! Watch you mom or grandma it can be fun!!!!

Of course... cooking isn't an issue for me because I cook for myself. I don't think any of those domestic type areas (cooking, housekeeping, etc) should be a factor... to me, that's just an excuse for other guys to be lazy. I went off to college. I learned how to do those things for myself. If I was with someone that wanted to do those tasks, I would insist on either helping out, or alternating sharing the workload. If I am perfectly capable of doing something, I am not going to ask (definitely not insist) someone else to do it.

Cooking is not a priority, but just an act of caring. If you can't feed your partner be it man or woman. Then I feel you can't be so caring. Just personal opinion. I'm male and like cooking but that should not be taking for granted.
