It is best to water your lawn or flowers in the morning between the hours of 6-9 am before the sun is really hot. The sun will fry your lawn if you water during the main peek of the day. Plus, if it's really hot and humid outside, it defeats the purpose of watering, because the water doesnt get the chance to soak into the lawn it evaporates before it hits the ground.

the reason for this is to keep from burning up the lawn never water when the sun is at its highest the water on the lawn will draw heat and cause burning same goes for trees to water a tree when the sun is at its highest is to use a 5 gallon bucket with a hole in the bottom if you put water on the leaves it will burn the tree and cause the leaves to turn brown wont kill the tree but it will make it look really bad

Hi, may be it gives the plants time to suck up the water before the sun comes up, how ever i don't agree with that. I have an allotment and i do try to water it last thing at night which then gives more than enough time for the water to do its thing.

my expertise suggest the opposite ; primarily because i live in north Queensland where the temperature can be very hot ; and if you have watered plants ; by the time sun gets up it could do serious damage to the leaf structure --- whereby our southern cousins probably need to water in the morning because if there is any chance of frost at night --- it will have , indeed a similar effect .
overview --- north of tropic of Capricorn --- pm watering --- south --- am watering .good luck .
