I think they are overpriced. I used to be a consultant- I made great money off of it while I was in college but I hardly ever used the products! Think about it, they have to have a huge mark up so that we can make a commision. Mk skincare has too much chemicals anyway, it doesnt work that great but people can easily get suckered into throwing money away on the fluff of it.
That being said, I would however, recommend the Oil Mattifier. Its a light liquid that goes on clear and dries to a matte finish. This would be the one single item from Mary Kay I still use to this day.
My suggestion would be 'don't waste your money'. I recommend Philosophy skin care. Especially the skin cleanser called 'purity made simple'. Its gentle to the skin and it removes makeup, too. I buy my philosophy products from Sephora.com. Any order from sephora allows 3 free samples. So you may just get to sample other skin care products with your order, too!

I really like all of them. I have used MK on and off since Jr. High and now have used them and nothing else for at least 4 years. The prices are lower than department stores and the products are guaranteed. For all those that feel they were 'tricked' into buying more than they needed, I think their consultants must have forgotten to tell them that all products are guaranteed. If you buy something and don't like it or it doesn't work for you, MK requires consultants to ALWAYS offer you a full exchange and some consultants will offer a full refund. i know I had to exchange THREE moisturizers before I found the perfect one. I know you can't do that with drugstore or department store products.
Just make sure you get a good consultant that will let you try on everything before you buy and check with her on her refund/exchange policy.

Mary Kay products are good but it also depends on your skin type because some skin doesnt fit to the product... So far my mom like it very much because it was so effective specially in removing dark spots under the eyes and also prevents wrinkles.... The only disadvantage is that its so many products to use and it requires your time and patience to do it every night. i hope this will help you .. have a nice day (",)

I like the products. It took a little experimenting with my Mary Kay lady to find the right skin care formula to fit my body chemistry. It is important to find a lady who will exchange your products you bought that didn't work without making you buy more until you have the correct ones that you need that do work. As for the colors I like them. My lady lets me sample them before I buy them. plus, she gives me tips on how to apply them. I asked her for more information once and she directed me to marykay.com. I got a lot of neat info there. Did you know that they try to find cures for cancer and try to help people in domestic violence situations? Sorry to ask a question in my answer to your question. I really like that company it seems like more than just make-up.

Mary Kay is awesome, i had really oily skin and prone skin to really break out... i start using their #3 line and it clears up my skin the acne med cleared up my skin the oil matifier keeps oil away during the day.... my skin is really sensitive. I would recommend it... try to find a sales associate that gives you great deals... my sister (who doesn't give discounts to family anyway nor friends) always gives her customers a 25% off during their birthday month!

skin care & makeup are very good - I actually like them better than most expensive makeup sold in department stores. Nice colors for makeup and their moisturizers and cleansers are great. I highly recommend them.

I agree with DeeDee. I also went to a party and spent way too much money. My skin didn't accept it either.....
