People say that life is short because we never get to do all the things that we want to.

Well, if you lose loved ones anywhere from toddler age to late 20's, late 30's, early 50's and cousins who miscarry, I would say life is short. It's such a small portion even if we live to be 70 but in light of life being a dressing room and rehearsal for eternity, it's a drop in the bucket and is as the grass that withereth. When it goes fast, it seems short.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are WRONG----death is forever and that my friend, respectively is the opitome of THE longest thing that will happen to you. Life does become too short when you have or is experiencing the loss of a loved one, sadly you'll eventually come to know this one day.

There's always more out there to experience and enjoy ... for the most part we want to be a part of it but somehow there's never enough time to do it all ... we take for granted there's more time, we don't say or do everything we want before we run out of time. Either the person or opportunity passes before we're ready ...

Yes, I agree with you that life is long, especially if you believe in the process of "reborn after your death". That means that we are trapped in the cycle of birth and death, unless we attain enlightenment and reach Nibbana.
However, in life, as human, we have been known to be greedy and not satisfied what we have. Now we dream to win a contest in our school. When we win it, we dream to win a contest in the city. When we win it, we dream again to win a nation-wide compeititon. When we win it, we dream AGAIN to win a regional tournament. And it goes on...
When we ace in badminton, we want to concentrate on different fields, such as hockey. When we gain PhD in Chinese Language, we want to again, get a title in Business Studies.
Our life is a never-ending cycles of ambitions and dreams. One life is too short for us to accomplish this dreams. To attain enlightenment and reach Nibbana, some of us need to undergo a few "lives" in the cycles of birth and death in order to overcome all desires, evil thoughts, etc and make ourselves pure.

Only adults say that. It's because the older they become the shorter they perceive time (maybe it's a fear of death) and that affect their perception of life!

They are talking about how things move so fast sometimes, you don't know where the time goes.When you are older, time seems to go by faster than when you were young.
