2x2 - 5 = 4 <=> 2x2 = 1 <=> x^2 = 1/2 <=> x = +- sqrt(1/2)

THE ANSWER IS: X = 2.12132 , -2.12132
SHOWING THE WORK:
(-( 0 ) +/- SQRT( 0 )^2 -4( 2 )(-9 ))/2( 2 )
( 0 +/- SQRT( 0 + 72 ))/ 4
0 + SQRT( 72 )/ 4 OR 0 - SQRT( 72 )/ 4
8.485281 / 4 OR -8.485281 / 4
-----------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I got. I turned the problem into a trinomial, 2x^2 + 0x -9, and used the quadratic formula to get to the answer of SQRT(72)/4.

2x2 - 5=4
2x2= 4 + 5
2x2= 9
2x2= 9 all over 2 or (2x2=9)/2
so...
x2=9/2
√x2= √9/2
x= ±√9/2

im assuming you meant 2x^2 - 5 = 4
2x^2 - 9 = 0
(0 +/- sqrt(0^2 - 4(2)(-9))/2(2)
(0 +/- sqrt(72)/2(2)
(0 +/- (12sqrt(2))/2(2)
so the answers are x = 3sqrt(2) and -3sqrt(2)
