In short......you dont. You may get a perfectly good analogue reception on the ariel you have but digital may be very different. You can of course check digital coverage in your area before buying a box - but this will not tell you if your ariel is good enough. I would say the best bet is either to borrow a digi box first from a friend and check, or you could always buy one from Argos (16 Day moneyback guarantee) that way if it doesn't work all you have lost is the cost of the the trip to Argos and back.

You will not unless you try it.
According to them my postcode it will not work it does.
My loft ariel worked ok but did by one that stood on top of tv cost £10 from Curry's called One For All it is black does not have those arial anteni things just small and round works perfect all channels. Just remember to keep tuning it in as the first few times it takes a while do not give up it will work.

once you've set it all up and turn the freeview box on it should say no signal available or if yre antenna is over 5 years old probably best to get a new one to enjoy all the benifits of freeview

See if you can borrow a set from a friend to try it.
My roof aerial is old and not the right bandwidth to pick up freeview.

You don't until you actually try it out & then a lot of retailers will not accept it back for a refund. Try borrowing one off a friend to test your reception first.
