England aren't a bunch on no hopers it's the lack of preparation from the back room people that's left the top six batsmen playing for the first time ever in Australia with no pre Test Match warm up games to speak of and once the series started no other state matches for people to get back into form in.
When Read replaced Jones what real practicer matches had he had to get into form?
Blame thise who agreed the tour intinerary it played totally into Australia's hands.
Also Australia are a great side.
We won the Ashes fifteen months ago by the skin of our teeth, mainly because we had players who over-performed and they had theirs who clearly under performed.
People seem to forget we won at bEdgbaston by just 2 runs, struggled at Old Trafford by a couple of wickets and in the final Test at the Oval, held on for a draw.
All this against a side who were playing badly so what did we really expect when we went to Australia??
We had two players in the side whio hadn't played for a year, our opening experienced batsman Trscothick has a nervous breakdown and goes home, Harmison has a total loss of confidence in himself, Anderson and Mahmood aren't really up to Test Match standard and Panesar, a moderately talented player, is expected to win matches single handed never realistic and way above his ability level.
Let's just accept that we've been smashed out of sight by a better team and not call the players no hopers, it really undermines just how good the Aussies are.

they play great for a bit, then when the aussies get going well, about 4 or 5 English players whinge and play slightly better than scarecrows.
If they kept a positive attitude no matter what the aussies were doing, they'd stand a better chance

Quite simply:
Australia LOST 2005. England didn't win it! The temporary aberration is nullified!
The jibes of "Dads Army" rightfully p....d off the Aussies to perform at our normal level.
You have good players and in 2009 when half our current team are gone you will probably make a better fist of it( and still lose!).
For now just face it
AUSTRALIA.... CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!
2nd Daylight!!!
Oops sorry ...England are definitely No:2 's! :-)

Lack of discipline from the England batsmen. Time after time you see them starting the innings scoring 6+ per over. If you start at that rate against bowlers of the Australian calibre then you will get out. The coach needs to bang their heads together.
