You want a smudgy eye pencil, not too sharp with a rounded end. Draw a soft line close to the lashes, then with a cotton bud just smudge it softly. You may need to smudge it quite a lot so you don't still have a black line but a smokey effect.
Black is a good colour but very hard. Depending on your colouring, a steely grey can be really effective, especially with blue eyes. Brown smudging sometimes can look a bit jaundiced and not very good.

First off get three shades, a light grey - medium grey and dark grey. Also a black eyeliner and mascara.
Always aply light first, applying it to the fullness of the lid. second goes meduim working your way in from the front of the lid to the back, stripe the eyeshadow using a small eyeshadow applicater, second the dark, just gently dab on the front of the lid.
Using a clean sponge applicater, stroke the powder up towards the lid, blending it in. Finally apply your liner and over 3 coats of mascara.
To add a shimmer effect, get a silver gloss eyeshadow and in the socket, line with a small applicater, gently dusting the edging.

Be careful. Use soft johl or kajal for smearing. invest in some decent dark grey eye shadow. Chanel do an excellent black eye shadow that blends like a dream and is perfect for smoky eyes, use with something like Stilo high lighter and you can blend above the socket to get that lovely effect.
Be bold when it comes to winging out your colour or your eyes will look small. Make sure you balance it with strong brow high light. and a tiny dab of high light in mid lid will also enhance the look.
Go go go!

The best way to get the smoky-eye effect is use a purple or a gret eye shadow and sweep it all over your lids. Apply alot of black mascara - don't clump it! Your lashes should be spread out nicely. Gently apply i to your lower lashes then add a swoop of black pencil eye liner and your done! Hope this helps xx

It depends on what type of smokey eye you want the best way is by using a black liquid eyeliner and a white eyeshadow aply a line of black eyeliner to the rim of your top lashes then take a white eyeshadow and blend this into the eyeliner while its still wet and apply loads of black mascara

Use quite a bit of eyeliner and some v.dark mascara, then use grey /blue/ black eyeshadow at the bottom use dark grey black and then use a lighter eyeshadow at the top and blend it in with an eyeshadow brush or your finger. It also helps to bring out the eyes if you use deep red lipstick. good luck

Black eyeliner on the top and bottom of your eyelids. Flick it out a little at the corners. Use a dark grey/black eyeshadow on your lids and on your bottom lash line and do the same thing.

Use grays and metallics, black eyeliner, and make sure to fade and blend the color when you put it on. The key is to extend beyond the eyelid.
