No, There are enough unknown pedophiles in our school system now without reinstating the punishment of being paddled, it would only give the ones we dont know about, that are there, an excuse to be more perverted with our children. Not to mention the ones that get carried away, leaving marks/bruising. In my experience as a child and as a parent both, violence in any form only promotes more violence or rebellion. I believe privileges and pleasures taken away is a far greater pain. If the parents can not be trusted for disciplinary action that teaches their own child, then expel the student when becoming a habitual troublemaker. Just my opinion. By the way, really great question.

Yes, I have a nine year old son and a thirteen year old daughter throughout the years of school I have seen things that make my jaw drop. There is no fear of repercussion in the schools today. If the kids act up they either get a detention or loose recess. A good paddling brings respect back because they know if they get in trouble the paddle will be coming. Look at these kids today most of them are out of control. For the ones who think it is a terrible thing should spend a day with a group of third or fourth graders and see how they talk and act toward there teachers.

I think paddling is a bad idea - however there are other things like making the kids clean up the school yard, pick up papers around the room, etc that we as teachers should be allowed to make students do and I have been told by administrations in the past we can't. Having them do things like push ups and/or running laps are a no no. Those things should be allowed. But the actually physical beating on a student no - that is not okay.

Good Luck!!!

I don't think so. It is still used where I live as long as the students' parents sign a paper allowing the administration to paddle their child. While I'm not against spanking completely, I don't think schools should have the right to punish kids in that manner. I don't think it is very effective - especially after the student is in middle school. I've seen many kids opt for "swats" instead of in-school suspension, and they just keep coming back for more.

It'll never happen whether we all agree it's good to or not. The laywers have screwed the works and everyones afraid to get sued.

Another form of punishment needs to be thought up thats just as ego busting today as paddling was years ago.

I vote for public egging outside the school.

I additionally in my opinion think of that they might desire to, it relatively is my opinion that a good paddling is what's mandatory in ninety 9 situations out of a hundred whilst it comprises punishment, there is no self-discipline in public colleges at the instant, i'm unsure what got here approximately yet for some reason the previous punishments died out for being too "barbaric". pay attention up human beings, there is no longer something barbaric approximately spanking a toddler. awaken and self-discipline your toddlers
