There is plenty of action in Cairo at night. There are a few pubs that are worth visiting such as Club 35 in Four Seasons Giza, Tabasco pub in Amman Square in Mohandseen, Sangria infront of Conrad.
There are plenty of restaurants, but I highly reccomend you try Abou El Sid in Zamalek, serves quality local food, great experience.
Cabs are very safe, but you need to bargain before you actually get inside. Drivers can be annoying usually charge tourists more than the fair value of the ride. Try to get the yellow cabs, they use pay meter, cars are more comfortable and cleaner. You can also call them at any time and they will pick you up. The number of the yellow cab is 19155, Keep it as u r gonna need it a lot.
Enjoy your vacation

Cabs are very safe... but take a minibus from behind the museum in midan tahrir, or take a normal bus outside the museum if u can find someone who can tell u where it is going! They are fun!!! Cabs drive like maniacs... but are safe. Yes mke sure u bargain and dont give in to them when at the end they try to get more from u!! At night, only place is the corniche... it is full of life and is beautiful, people eat lots of nuts, pumpkin seeds, termis (salty bean things).. and the music and vibe are so great... Nights anywhere are most lively in the markets..... which is where I spend most of my time. Sit down with some locals and u will have a ball!!! But be careful, there are some very very bad people in Egypt!!! Go on the amazing replica pharonic boats.. just across the water from the nile hilton u should be ableto see them there... really fun! Call 5701000 and they are located in front of the french embassy on el Nile St. And yes the pharonic village is a fun outing, however it is so hard to find ANYONE that has heard of it or knows where it is.. so tell the driver like this "Carry Are Feron Shar eeya El Bahhhhr ill Arzem" in Giza Square... it will get u there..! If u want clubs... i guess mohandisseen and zemalek which are richer areas, will be the best bet... or yeah tourist hotels. At night also just walk the streets it is amazing what u will see...! If u need gifts go see my friends in the Nile Hilton bazaar... cant remember the name but it is in front of a grand piano and a beauty salon in the main foyer... tell them Edward from Australia sent u there..my friends are Angel and Trez. Good luck.

Cabs have always been fine for me, there's nothing unsafe about them. I like walking at night, but that's probably not what you mean. There are clubs, but I never looked into them. The best time to discover is in the daytime! Visit extremely old mosques in Islamic Cairo, go through Khan Al-Khalili, visit Al-Azhar park, the National Museum at Tahrir Square.... And in Luxor you can see the Valley of the Kings and Queens and Hatchepsut's jazz. The Pharaonic Village is also supposed to be nice but I've never been. Have fun!! C ya around.

One doesn't necessarily go to Cairo for the nightlife. There are a lot more things of cultural interest there. I hope it's not a priority. I know Cairo well. Go to hotel discos if that's your scene. If you like to walk around, just stay along the Corniche by the Nile. You won't be bothered if you're dressed appropriately. Sit at a cafe around Tahrir Square and sip coffee or tea or karkaday. If you are looking for the kind of nightlife scene you are familiar with in the West, you never should leave there.

there are so many things to do during night. You can go to watch a movie, enjoy a Nile Cruise dinner, go to the area called "Khan El-Khalily" to get a hot drink and enjoy the old spirit of Cairo, also you can attend musical shows in Sakyat El- Sawy, or u can go to any night club, go shopping in one of the biggest Mall in the middle east called "City Stars Mall". So, you have so many options.
Enjoy and try to go to other cities like Alexandria.

for me...i visited that country a couple of times. and i loved it....
am not sure it's perfectly safe for a lady, alone.....but am pretty sure it is for a male..:-P....
there is this place called "khan el khalilee", which is really cool for a night go out....cafe's old style, things to buy, alot of things you wont be able to see anywhere else...
there is a place called "elharam" which means the pirmads....which is a maim clubs street,..which i don't really like as that's not my type of activity....there is "city stars" shoping mall, streets full of people around it...
or you can go out of cairo, "which is the best idea" to a city called, " sharm, or sharm elshaikh".....where you can enjoy the beach, the sweet faces (for me..heheheh)...
offff...i typed alot....and you can ask more, and get a little book about it before going ofcourse.....
check out..." luxur" too....;)
take care, and enjoy your trip...:)

Belly dancing shows. If you're still around Cairo, go see the
lastest show. It's very different kind of belly dancing from Turkish.
