My desktop is getting old and I think I will replace it with a laptop. I have $1500 and am looking for something that I can game with, although it doesn't have to be top of the line. I play the older mmo's like Asheron's Call and Ultima Online.
If you had $1500 to spend, which laptop would you get and why?

get a Dell inspiron or XPS.

Your budget of $1,500 is very reasonable. In fact you can get a decent "gaming machine"... that is... a good laptop with $1,500.
I would recommend the "Dell XPS M1210" (my personal preference, with a $1,500 budget)... it retails at around $1,250.
In the nutshell these are the average specs:-
CPU:- Intel Core Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz/2MB Cache/667MHz FSB).
Video Card:- Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950.
Memory:- 1 GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz.
Hard Drive:- 80 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400 RPM).
Optical Drive:- 8x DVD +/- RW DVD Burner.
Operating System:- Genuine Windows XP Media Center 2005.
Wireless:- Built-in Intel Pro Wireless 3945 802.11 b/g 54Mbps.
Audio:- Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition.

If your using it for gaming make sure you get a 3.0 Ghz (min) processor, as much ram as the mobo can take (2 gigs would be good) and a nice graphics card with a load of memory!

Get an apple mac because they are designed for graphics and the gaming experience is phenomenal much better than any windows based laptop!! apple macs a+++
