You don't feel the urge to push as well. You can see when a contraction is coming on by watching the monitor that they will have you hooked up to. The nurses will tell you when it is a good time to push. You shouldn't feel pain when the baby crowns. You might feel pressure though. There really wasn't any pain to rate with my babies when I had the epidural. I have had 3 babies without the epidural and 3 babies with the epidural. I NOW CHOOSE THE EPIDURAL! : ) It made the whole process more doable........ the only thing is that you cant feel how hard you are pushing. But the nurses will help you with that.

the crowning feels more like pressure. the epidural is great for the abdomenial pain wich will totally overshadow the pain in the saddle area. I had four. and sometimes the epidural takes only part way. make sure they check dialation to get it in before you fully deliver. I think they give it at six cm.

i felt a lot of pressure and thats about it...i never felt pain except the little bit of stinging when i was getting the epidural...other than that, its just a lot of pressure. i had a hard time feeling the baby coming out but i think that was because she was barely 5 lbs (5 weeks early). best of luck!

O YEA, epidural was BEST thing i couldve done, thought i was gonna die before i got it.
