I live in Australia and what i did when i filed for divorce was to see a lawyer to find out what I was entitled too.
The law is in Australia, if you are planning on filing for divorce is you need to be separated for one year before it can go through the courts. Also, if you have been only married for 2 years or less then marriage counselling is required.
Once this is done you can apply for a divorce on line through the federal magistrates court (www.fmc.gov.au).
You need to decide whether you want to serve your ex or file the divorce papers together. Have a look on the site cause I find it helps.
Once the papers have been lodged with the court it is one month and one day till the divorce is final.
Recommend to see a lawyer to get some advice and especially if there are children involved.
Hope this helps if you live in Australia otherwise I suggest doing a google search or look in the yellow pages for lawyers.
All the Best to you!
I know that it can be a stressful time!
Happy New Year!

open your phone book to the yellow pages and look up attorney's, go to the section that lists divorce attorneys.
There should be many larger print ads on the various pages, that offer free consultation and in many cases same day filings in the courts.
If you have been married less than 90 days you only need an annulment.
Good luck

Make an appointment for a free consultation with a divorce lawyer. They'll tell you exactly what you need to do.

Your local court has papers for this. I know in my state (Maine) and most other U.S. states, you can also just print them out from your state web site.
