I'm going to a huge New Year's party. I usually just do the jeans and a nice top thing, occasionally go for a skirt or something a bit different but seeing as it's the sales at the moment I thought I'd go for something a bit different! I'm going with a big group including lots of friends and my man, so I want to look fashionable but want my man to look twice too! I don't really want to wear a dress unless it's over jeans, is this possible? I've also thought about city shorts or black hotpants, or a backless top? Please help me, I'm a jeans and trainers girl! I have the confidence to wear pretty much anything but never know what to choose to flatter my body shape (I'm lucky enough to have a fairly athletic figure!) and I'm not sure what goes together well! What do I do about shoes and accessories too?? I'd like my friends to realise I can do glam too, they're all really fashionable!

Forget jeans. New Years is an opportunity to really go over the top and be ultra-glam. Also, don't wear what your friends are wearing ... try something different. Have the confidence to be noticed. Try some 3/4 length leggings, very fashionable at the moment, sparkly tights as well. Draw attention to your ankles. As for the top ... well if you have something plain then buy plenty of cheap chunky glittery jewellery (Claire's Accessories has plenty and I think there's a sale on at the mo) and pile it on. If the top if glittery, then play down the jewellery.
But do have the confidence to be different. You have a good figure ... in years to come when it starts to wobble and droop a bit (it comes to us all, sadly) you will wish you had flashed it around and dressed it up more. So, plenty of glitter and glitz. People will admire you and wish they were you.
Have fun!

OK...don't go for the long evening dress or the short mini either. Go for the 3/4 length...simple black - no pattern-since this is your first foray into glam. A satin material is fine. A short jacket with 3/4" length sleeves is good...no shawl. No indian or pearl jewlery. long drops are fine. No watch.Keep it simple.shoes...high heels 2" satin fabric if possible..I am not sure about beads or glitter on the shoe. It depends what the dress jacket and jewelry are like.Makeup no lt blue etc. Simple grey eyeliner and mascara lite pink / rose beige blush. Hair up with clean twist. no bobby pins or hiuge grips...this is my taste maybe not yours...I hope you find the style you're looking for.

Main thing i've found at new year is the weather - are you going to be outside or inside? If you're going to be outside at a street party type thing, wrap up really warm!!! If you're going to be indoors, take a bag with you with some different clothes in it and see what others are wearing. Topshop are selling leggings which you can wear under a dress and are the kinda "in" thing to wear at the mo with flat shoes.

What about - black cropped trousers with fashion tights and long boots with a nice tight fitting top either in black or your fav colour.

Glam up with some dangly earrings and long necklace.

Enjoy the party.

I would suggest the shorts with high heels and a pretty but eye catching top in a bright colour. IE green strap top and then accessorise with silver jewellery or beads.

I reckon you should forget your dress phobia and go for a fifties style dress with a sticky out skirt, think SJP in Sex and the City!

Try classic, black skirt, white blouse, stockings and high heels - it's always glam doesn't cost a fortune and reeks of class too. And trust me - he won't be able to take his eyes off you.
