In arecent newspaper article i read that the world pie shortage could be down to the American people, but i think this maybe over reaction,

Pie is considered an "All-American" symbol kinda like baseball,hot dogs and Chevrolet.If you want to compare something to a familarality one would say "That's as good as Mom's apple pie"Most Americans will know what you mean.

My mate says he hasn't seen a pie he didn't like, eats at least a 1/4
of one a day. Hates cake though.No birthday cake for him, a birthday
