I have a few personal favorites. I liked the original Ewok adventure TV special back in the 80's. I liked it a million times better than any of the prequals except for Revenge of the Sith.
I really like most of the short stories by Kevin J. Anderson. The IG88 story was really intence and really shows how bad the identity of an assasian droid really is. The Bobba Fett story was a little unbelieveable but how else would he survive the pit that ate him up in ROTJ? I think Lois Lamour would be proud of any of his short stories. These were by far the best short stories I have ever read. I happen to be a writter and really enjoy these works above most anything I have ever read. My favorite place in the novels were in The Jedi Academy series whenever Lando Calrissian shows up. It was a riot every time Lando used pick-up lines on Mara Jade and Mara Jade could read his mind and give Lando the ultimate rejection responses which was something Princess Leia could not do in The Empire Strikes Back. It would be my dream to write parody novels. The fate of Jar Jar Binx, the Emperor gets a Botox job and learns good hygeine, and Chewbaccas bad hair day. I still have not read the Rogue Sqaudron books but I think my sister who is a die-hard fan would be one of the first to agree with you. She reads those books and I think she really enjoyed that series. I should check into them.

My favorite spinoffs are the expanded universe novels.
I'd also pick the X Wing series as my favorite- love Rogue and Wraith squadrons. I like the other novels (with the exception of Hamley's books... just don't like her style) but coming from a military family and spending all my life around Air Force bases, I just love the military and fighter stuff more :)

Have to say my favorite offshoot had to be the Ewok cartoon from the 80's.

I loved the Jedi Apprentice book series, where you get to know a little more about Obi Wan and Qui Gon and how they came to be Master and Apprentice.
