How long after Christmas are decorations displayed? Is it the day after on the 26th...after the new year...when do most people take them down and pack 'em up for next year?

After the 12 days have passed...the day after the Epiphany.

The Epiphany is the 12th day after Christs birth (Christmas) so it would be on 1/6...sorry if I confused you more LOL

Tradition in my family is to put up the decorations the day after Thanksgiving and take them down before February 1.

we take ours down on the 7th January
although last yr we got a bit lazy and left all the christmas lights on the house ... its just exhausting putting them all up so we left them (we noticed a few people in the street got bit lazy too ehhe)
