No, extra points are NOT given to people who report others. This is good, in my opinion, as it deters, if not stops, people from reporting out of a twisted sense of fun.
Did Yahoo say why your postings were reported? Maybe you can see what you can do to stop getting reported. I got reported once, and the question was harmless in my opinion. You must have annoyed some people.

I can't see anybody getting extra points for reporting people as they would just sit in front of their PCs and not answer any questions. I will find out for sure by reporting you if you like. Ha ha.

I certainly hope not. That would be totally unethical and I understand that this site is for questions and answers, usually but not always serious answers, and providing an interesting and educational service.
Some people seem to be easily offended but it would be totally wrong to give points for reporting others.
In my humble opinion the points are pretty much irrelevant in any case.

there is no reward for reporting people, and there is no reward for doing things worth reporting about... i have had some answers reported and they took away my points and so now i know what not to say...

no you have probably upset someone with one of your answers and they are just reporting you out of spite your not alone it happens to me also.
