I am not sure but maybe you could take a test pen and poke it into your tank water and see if there is a power leak in your tank.

But it could also be because your fish is sick, he could be suffering some kind of environmental shock like pH or temperature changes or the water toxicity is too high.

Some fishes are just more sensitive to such things.

This could be flukes. Fish will often dart madly around the tank when they are carrying this parasite as it makes them itchy. Is your fish trying to bash his body against things as he shoots around? Scraping on the things in the tank? If so, I would suggest you buy some good fluke medication. Sterazin is very good.

Tip for you: when you suspect you have an ailing fish, always isolate it immediately from your other animals. You should have a small spare tank set aside for this purpose. I'd recommend you quarantine this fish right away else whatever he has could be passed to your other goldfish. It will also be easier for you to monitor his behaviour.

Good luck!

check the ph level and how big is your tank... this is your fish telling you that it is sick of something..do a water change see if that helps.. if not go to a fish store and tell them what your fish is doin..they will give you a vitamin to put in the water

This is a symptom of fish-illness. another symptom is the fish overturns itself. So ur fish isn't insane.
