I went out last night and I was in a very smoky atmosphere, the effects paid off as this morning I woke up with my throat feeling dry, croaky and I feel choked for air every time I take a deep breath, and I keep coughing...

Does anyone know any pharmaceutical products that can help me when I wake up and feel like this, like an inhailer to help refresh my air passages and improve my respiratory or something?... *cough cough cough*

Answers are much appreciated, thanks for reading.

Definitely, a humidifier will comfort your throat during your sleep.
Slippery Elm tea will soothe and strengthen your throat and vocal chords. You can get lozenges with this ingredient at health food stores. They're great because they melt nicely in your mouth. If you take them during the night, you can fall asleep and PROBABLY not choke because they dissolve easily on the moist skin inside your mouth as opposed to a chunk wedging in your throat.
If you're getting a headache too, or your head (mental state) feels stuffy, try a couple hundred units of vitimin E the morning of going out. It helps your oxygen get to and circulate in your brain.
And water. Lotsa' water, flush and rehydrate them thar tissues.

Cigarettes are easy to get hooked on. Just 7 cigarettes is enough to start a lifelong habit. Once the body develops a tolerance to nicotine, these feelings (which are very short lived) will not happen. Then, smoking is just pointless. It does nothing good for you. It is expensive and it can severely shorten your life. And it makes you smelly, stains your teeth, damages your gums, can cause impotence, can cause premature birth, not to mention the terrible damage it does around the house. Smoke damage can rapidly destroy electrical items with its sticky film, and damage furniture and decor. Don't do it.

Staying away is one way, and going to non smoking areas of places is a second way, and then using a air purifier will help. I can relate second hand cigarette smoke is worse to breathe, then smoking itself. I ask people to not smoke near me, yes politely not to offend anyone. My car and home are non-smoking. There are so many negative side effects to cigarettes, people need to wise up. You can also ask your local pharmacist what they would recommend. Best Wishes and Happy New Years.

You sound like you might have asthma, cigarette smoke will cause asthmatics to have coughing fits. You can buy over the counter inhalers at most drug stores. Don't take more than the label tells you to either. There have been people who weren't asthmatics who overdosed on the otc inhalers such as Primatene Mist. Albuterol now is an over the counter inhaler, most Dr's prescribe that at first for patients with asthma.

I love the answers..just dont go to smoky places. Free points huh people. The dude asked if anyone knew of any products that can help. Idiots.... Yeah just never leave your house and use a oxygen mask when you go out! LOL I would try a cough syrup that will help reduce the refelxes in your throat that make you cough. Narcotics are best known for this but not practical for your need. Take a hot shower (very steamy) and spit that crap out. You can also try Benadryl.

If you are worried of gaining weight during quiting smoking Stop!
you must know that when you smoke you don't lose weight you actually gain your normal weight but because of the smoking instead of the weight adding on to you thies, stomach, butt, hips etc, the fat is adding on to veins around your heart and other important arteries. This means that when you quit smoking and start gaining weight the proper way you are actually doing a favour for you body and that is one of the ways you know that your body is recovering from all of the tabaco!!

So please do this not for me but for everyone who loves you and cares for you! imagine a world without you, how would your friends, family, and loved ones cope without you??

If you keep on smoking this is your one way ticket to death, and there is no going back!!!!

By staying away from smoky places-no place that is filled with second hand smoke is worth being in. You will pay for it with even greater problems. Listen to your body and don't be aound smoke at all! Be kind to your lungs and they won't collapse.

Weigh the benefits of going out to the damage you are doing to your body.

If the places you go are soo entertaining and irresistable, then suck it up, and as you lie in bed the morning after, just savour the wonderful memories while you gasp for breath..

Hope you're able to find fun, smoke-free places and activities instead though.. I'm feelin' for those lungs of urs..!

try drinking water. And if you can, avoid those places haha also, you may want to get a humidifier, to put extra moisture into the air in your house, so that when you wake up you've been breathing it for a bit, might help. Good luck!
