The 'post box' or 'peep scarf' sort of face wear where you can only see the eyes .... now you can't really have full vision around you, can you, because your vision at the sides of your eyes will be partly obscured by the veil. Doesn't this make it dangerous to drive as you don't have full vision? So are Muslim women allowed to drive with them on?

Plenty of insults out there, but why don't you answer the question? This is an honest enquiry about whether it is OK to drive with partly-obscured vision. If your kid was run down by someone who couldn't see properly, either because their windscreen was full of furry dice or because their headgear stopped them seeing clearly, wouldn't you want this question answered? So, serious replies only please.

In Saudi Arabia women can't drive on their own, and in Afghanistan under the Taliban women weren't allowed drive. There are all sorts of anti-woman nonsense laws in Muslim countries. It has nothing to do with the veil - it's just discrimination against women. In the UK, where discrimination is abhorrent and against the law, Muslim women can drive with the veil (even the letter-box veil allows them good vision).

If a police officer thought that someone was driving poorly, and stopped them, I doubt very much whether the veil issue would get raised - far too much paperwork, and the risk of it getting into the hands of the media.

I think the rules are interpreted as meaning that as long as you are driving so as not to be a danger to others, it is OK. There are no rules prohibiting the wearing of a veil or any other headgear - you just have to be able to see where you are going.

driving is risky as that's. limiting their visual container is calling for subject. I even have seen women people, particularly on college runs, with toddlers interior the decrease back with out seat belts on, no boosters and the driving force in a black head-protecting. the only bit, of the drivers face, seen replaced into the eyes. In an twist of destiny that's subject-loose to be asked "Did you spot the driving force?" or "Who replaced into driving the motor vehicle?" How is the conventional person to respond to this? for my section this veil ingredient is getting used to undermine the regulation. people who declare that the veil is worn for religious motives could think of lower back. I even have checked up approximately this on an internet site, which says here:- Hijab (veil) is a typical, no longer religious head conceal that dates decrease back to historical civilizations, and isn't any longer supported or endorsed via the Quran.

The term for it is "niqab," and those do allow full vision. You'll notice the way the niqab is cut allows for perfect peripheral vision as well, in a modified rectangular shape. I've seen some gals wear glasses with them too, very easy.

Why anyone would even think that would obscure vision is beyond me.

No. Normally most muslim women who wear the full face veil will not open up their face veil when drive due to the teaching of Al-Quran. Yes, sometimes will make it dangerous, but as i know, muslim are more emphasize the after world, so they rather foolow the instruction of the Holy Quran.

Im sure if the DVLA thought this was an issue they would have looked into it. Also it is their culture to wear it and you cant discriminate against those who want to drive. Also people get run over by drunk drivers, people on drugs, people not paying attention to the road etc etc....
