It seems to me that almost all of the rule changes in football have favoured the rich clubs over the poorer ones to the overall detriment of the game, the substitute rule being one.
The very rich clubs can fill the bench with top class players where the smaller clubs cannot compete.
The result is an ever widening gap between top and bottom clubs.
In fact I'm surprised that the European Commission hasn't jumped on the major clubs for forming an illegal cartel.
That's my view what's your's?

Yes Barrie But no substitutes brings back another problem. Notably "taking players out".
Perhaps a tit for tat rule. i.e. if a player is injured and unable to continue. the opposing side must chose a player to sit out also.(after incurring red card if appropriate) .
Good players should play the game not warm the bench. The big names would still gravitate to the rich teams but the poorer teams should tend to field a more competitive team. A good game is a hard fought, close and clean game.

Changing the rules means that football is growing as a sport ..getting back to old days means that we are not trying to more supported by people..for Substitution...dont you think that if a player is injured in a game forexample the coach has the right to switch him with another player..it wont be fair if he doesnt have the right because it was the other player who injured him in the first place..if a player got a red card..dont you think that the coach has the right to substitute 2 other players to change the tactics of the game..??

i think that substitutions should be allowd

We should go to the days, when sport is sport. A love of the game. Not just another greedy, big business with greedy, overpaid dummies. And, lets get rid of the fanatical fans too, while were at it. { the violent ones, I mean}..The brawlers and hateful nonsense over a..... GAME!! Get a grip...and a life.

no i think the rule now is fair cause all of your players need to play sometimes even if they have to play for ten seconds.
