How can I speed up my computer? It's very slow i.e.when I start it,it takes a lot of time opening or processing various applications.I run windows xp sp2 build 2600 and I have yahoo messenger too(some people say It makes pc slow).

by increasing the ram and the cpu like 512 Ram and 2.0 G cpu or
reinstall window XP sp2
yahoo messenger doesn't slow the speed,
I think urs comp becomes slow because some files have become corrupt means some virus iz there
update ur anti-virus program

As for the yahoo im, check the settings so that it does not automatically start up when you log on to your computer, next things would be to do the same for similar application (aim, msn...) and try defragging, disk clean up, and delete cookies and temp internet files, all these thing together should make an improvement... good luck, hope this helps

if u hv windows XP SP2 it will surely take time to load if u hv RAM less than 256 MB. Upgrade the RAM to 512 MB or higher if possible.
Delete the TEMP files
Defragment your hard disk
Lessen your start menu's list

check u r ram & upgrade it, in my view u r right yahoo messenger takes some more time.
u can use reg cleaner for delete many programme and u can shortest u r start menu, which take more time.
do small u r startup list
remove unwanted programme which is not nessecary
run disk defragment
delete all temporary files

XP has the compliant that it takes more time than other. Just uninstall unnecessary thsings from your pc. Increase the RAM.. and check out...

no need to increase ur RAM......... yahoo mesenger does not slow the pc.........the only thing u have to do is that reinstall window XP sp2 .....................ur comp becomes slow because some windows files have become corrupt ......this happens do to the sudden switch off the comp. due to hanging or some other reason...........................................just try my solution ...i am garunteed ur prob. will solve.
