Cut it into un-intimidating chunks. Set yourself one task, such as cleaning off the kitchen worktops, and set a timer for 20 min. See how much you can get done before the bell rings--you'll be surprised! When the timer rings, allow yourself 10 minutes break--for a cuppa, or go run an errand, or just go out and walk around the block. Then, another 20 min.
There's a website called "flylady" that gives a lot of tips but being American they go rather over-the-top with it. It's a funny website, though, and does have some useful hints.

I always listen to music, that makes it a little more fun. Also, I am one of those people that likes to do a few jobs at the same time. Usually I will clean and tidy a bedroom, then go a do some laundry, then do a bathroom. If I keep switching around, it makes it not seem so boring. Usually towards the end of my Cd I am listening to, I finish it all up and the place looks great. You have to find a way that works for you of course, but try not to procrastinate, just do it. (Now I am sounding like the Nike campaign-funny) Good Luck.

Strikes me both Bex and Kim B have the answer to your question, mind over matter, small tasks at a time, reward yourself with a cup of something and a brief sit down after you have completed a particularly difficult or tedious job, and take a good look at what you have achieved afterwards.....I often make a list of jobs to be done during the course of the day and tick them off as they are completed, that way I can see what I have achieved which brings a certain satisfaction, it doesn't matter if you don't complete the list in one go, there is just less to do on the list, which is great.....I realise this possibly makes me look a bit of a sad bod but when you go out to work and have limited time to do the chores every litle helps......

I hate doing housework etc; with a passion and find the best way to get it done is stick on some music and ones that you can sing to and turn the volume up LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!! I find dancing round the house with the hoover and a feather duster much more entertaining - it does not seem like a chore when having fun doing it.
OR - get some mates over and a few glasses of wine and loud music and go round each others houses doing the same - you could all be doing girls aloud before you know it.

Get into the zen of the motion. These kinds of tasks offer a great opportunity for getting in tune with the sacredness of motion. Just be quiet and half detach from the task or move through it into a kind of sublime non-attached attention.
I was sorting out a tangled hose in a water shed one day during the summer; water dripping down; sparrows flying in and out; sun casting dappled dancing shadows; and me dancing a zen dance of un-tangling with the hose...It was a real Holy Spirit encounter; way up there on the list; just beautiful..
But I was a kitchen porter for the best part of a decade - washing dishes by hand - and loved it for what it was. Indeed I would do it again for the right pay.
You can really free your mind on basic domestic tasks - just go with the flow and say the Rosary if you like. You can develop really vital spiritual connections doing this type of work..

First of all look around, picture it all clean and tidy and think how good you'll feel once it's all done.
Give yourself an amount of time to do it in, or start an hour before your favourite tv show starts.
Make it fun girl! Put your music on, pretend your being filmed or something, and you have to go as fast and thouroughly as you can.
Your reward is your tv show or whatever you enjoy!!
Cleaning is part of life so you gotta make if fun.
Have a Happy New Year!!

Set yourself up with some goals e.g hoover the hall by 10.30am.
Once you have done this you can move on to the next thing on your list. Once you have done 5 things on your list you can get a reward of say a chocolate biscuit or something or want ever you enjoy.
If you are doing activities like dishes, put the radio on or music CD etc on that you can move the bits that aren't moving while your doing the dishes e.g your bum, so this can give you
1) A small work out.
2) Burn of the chocolate biscuit.
3) As you are enjoying the music you get your job done quicker with out realising that you are doing it.
~It always helps me as i hate the ironning (when i have to do it) to boogey while ironning.
If you are doing a loud job of course you can't always hear the music, you could uses a person Walkman/CD player/mp3.
Hope this helps

If you clean up as you do things you wont have so much to do in one go. If its all piled up put your fav music on and play it loud enough to hear it all over the house while your busy. It really helps. Or get some mates round to help, maybe give them a reward like a night out at the pub, in the town or something

Get the coolest tools available. I cope much better with any job if I have the perfect tools. Be adventurous, instead of simply using a spray polish try a furniture cream and other such alternatives.
Actually there are tons of ways to spruce up the job at hand. Be inventive!
