I don't know if you've realised, but I am Asian.. I made a joke, which I said 'No offence' and it was about Sikhism.. Well not even about the religion, it was more like a play of the name.. 'Singh'..
Someone said 'You wouldn't like it if someone made a joke about your culture..'
I wanna say, do you actually know me to decide that..? And I wouldn't mind it as long as it was stated that they mean no offence.. IT'S JUST A JOKE!!

Singh is the name given to the people from the religion Sikhism, who are you kidding, why don't you joke about something which is not upsetting anyone.
so are you saying we need to joke about you and your culture to realize the true extend of your thinking? lets not waste our time here being petty.
You know what really bothers me is that its so hard for indian/ asian people to live sometimes and then when indian/asian people take the piss its like what the hell...we get it from everyone else and now our own kind. but...........

It depends on the joke. It could be a harmless joke, like calling an Asian, "Hey, Straight A..." or be a harmful joke, like calling one, "Hey...........:" (Think of size, you'll get it).
Somehow, if the person told you that, then I'm guessing your joke was on the offensive side.
I know sometimes it feels like it's just a joke, but you have to keep in mind a person can be sensitive when it comes to something that's very important to him. Sikhism is a religion, so I'm thinking you hit where it's hard.
