Dont Confuse yourself...Both are same only.. This can help only for campus selection..
Choose Computer Science so that u can be safe with Hardware as well as Software..
Course Doesn Matter..
Keep mastering yourself with the latest software..
Learn Everything about Computer trend as much as possible..
Start Doing FreeLancer Projects..

Yes you are right. IT is mainly related to softwares and Computer Science is related to software and hardware.
I suggest you to choose Computer Science, coz since it is related to hardwares too, you would be studying some Electronics, Microporcessor and other papers like that, which would be very much useful for you, when you may work in system side or assembly programming in future. If you choose computer science, you can work almost in any domain but for IT its some what limited but dont take that IT is not good. IT is also good but comp.sci is a little too good than that.

I'd definitely advice you to go Computer engineering, being a computer engineering graduate myself I know how much it helped me. Engineering isn't all hardware you'll be tought both aspect SW, HW and even networking. Engineering further keeps the door open for other disciplines as well because the Maths they teach is advance. It helps me in my MBA now, so go for engineering.
IT is restricted and will narrow your options.
