My son is keen to learn to play football, he went to a summer school run by a fleet football team and was signed up for the nursery team, but it was cancelled as they couldn't find anyone to run it. We're looking for somewhere around Aldershot, Farnham, Frimley,Farnborough, camberley area.
Would be very greatful for any help
Many thanks
Caroline

Check directly with local football clubs - many small teams and clubs have junior sections they often start at under 6 level - unfortunately this is unlikely to be advertised anywhere

What is the program like? Do they teach the kids at an appropriate level? Do the kids wear mouth guards? Why not let him try it? BTW They don't tackle in flag football although kids do trip over each other LOL. Flag football is no more dangerous than playing tag in the front yard---probably less because he'll have a mouth guard and someone will blow the whistle to stop the game when the ball is "down." FYI He could get hurt just as badly playing soccer (think: collisions) or t-ball or any other sport. Let him try it and have fun!

My son has been training with our local football team Dinnington Town and they have a brilliant set up for local kids...my other son plays for the under-9 side...all the coaches are qualified F.A. coaches and they all undergo a police check for child protection...i myself will be undertaking an F.A. coaching badge in the coming months so i can help out..your best way to find out if there any football teams available for your son by contacting your local Football Association and asking them...your son will love it..my lads live and breath football and cannot wait for the weekends to come.
My advice to you is if your son does get into a football team and you go to watch him..dont be one of those parents that scream at theyre kid if they do something wrong...encourage him and congratulate him if he does something good..
Kids are kids...let them be a kid.....its early stages but grassroots football is the best place for them to start out...good luck and you never know you may have a future proffesional footballer in your household..

Well Wycombe Wanderers have a holiday football school that they do, if that's too far they may be able to put you in touch with someone closer to home.

There's also your back garden! Great place to learn passing and dribbling skills and basic ball control!
